Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively with President Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
